The Dairy Outlook Workshop on the global shortage of dairy and the challenges and opportunities for your business, is being held in Brussels, Belgium 28-29 March.

The world is changing, and the milk supply scarcity is becoming reality. Milk supply pool knowledge and drivers behind it are crucial to plan the business in the dairy supply chain.

Rising volatility, new rules of dairy farming, political instability, environmental regulations, supply chain disruptions and trade agreements. These are just some of the uncertainties for future developments in the global dairy world – and this list can easily be extended to include many more.

It is in this spirit of uncertainty and curiosity that Eucolait and IFCN invite you to explore options for the road ahead – to show you what might happen in the future and how to navigate and prepare for the future.

For the second year in a row, our organisations will jointly discuss the short- and medium-term outlook for the dairy world (trade-, policy- and demand-side covered by Eucolait, while IFCN covers all about the farm-, economics- and supply-side), showing you what might happen in the future.

What will you get out of the outlook workshop?

  • Get insights into the latest trends and future developments
  • Learn about dairy market development and farm economics in next months
  • Expand your dairy knowledge – from dairy farming to commodity trade
  • Understand how to move from operational and tactical planning to strategic decision making
  • Networking with dairy industry and joined brainstorming

This workshop will provide you with guidance on how the world of dairy is changing and is suitable for anyone involved in the broader dairy chain. You will be able to get answers to the question of whether you are able to satisfy current and future demand (either on the dairy commodity or on the farm input side).

Details about the Workshop

  • When? 28th & 29th March 2023
  • Where? Brussels (Belgium), please book your room directly with “The Hotel”
The Hotel Brussels – Boulevard de Waterloo 38, 1000 Brussels, Belgium

IFE, International Food & Drink Event has welcomed the enthusiastic support of the food & drink retail sector as it prepares to return to ExCeL London on 21-23 March 2022.

Taking place for the first time since 2019, IFE’s 22nd edition is a much-anticipated return for the historic event as the UK’s most trusted resource for food & drink product discovery.

The show is ‘jam-packed’ with suppliers across a wide range of product categories, from household name brands such as Beyond Meat, Cawston Press, and Nairn’s to a number of exciting, innovative start-ups launched during the pandemic.

In addition to hosting the world’s largest gathering of UK food & drink suppliers, this year’s event will welcome new country pavilions from Lithuania, India and Belgium and returning countries such as Pakistan and France.

Event director Philippa Christer commented: “We’ve been thrilled with the enthusiasm and buy-in for this year’s show, both from exhibiting companies on the show floor and the buyers, associations and partners who’ve dedicated their time and insight to shaping the 2022 event, registered in their droves and agreed to join some fantastic panel discussions.”

Mahesh Patel, director of Buying – Group Commercial, Bidfood, added: “It will be great to see what IFE will be showcasing this year, from connecting with existing suppliers to finding new ones along with an update on trends and products coming into the industry. It will also be great to see overseas suppliers attending the show, after the lockdowns and the prevention of visits aboard and vice versa over the past two years. This should benefit everyone in the supply chain network within the food industry.”

IFE 2022 is reuniting with valued partners such as the Food & Drink Exporters Association, with events manager Sandra Sullivan commenting: “The Food & Drink Exporters Association team are buzzing to get back to IFE to connect with our export community and seek out brands that have yet to take their first steps into export. IFE is always such a strong showcase of UK food and drink. UK products that offer something unique and brands that are well established in the UK are always in demand by international buyers. Can’t wait to see what we can find at IFE!”

The show is also welcoming new partners, such as the Federation of Wholesale Distributors, whose CEO James Bielby said: “Cracking the wholesale channel is all about the right products and promotions for diverse customer groups, from impulse retailers to public sector caterers. The secret to success is wholesalers and manufacturers working in partnership to produce the perfect SKU (stock-keeping unit), pack size, price point, shared margin and promotion for maximum return for all involved. There’s no better place to start that partnership than in the halls at IFE.”

To learn more about everything happening at IFE 2022, and to register to attend, visit: ife.co.uk. Registration to the show gives visitors access to partner events IFE Manufacturing, London Produce Show, The Pub Show and Hotel, Restaurant & Catering (HRC).

Global event organiser Easyfairs has announced that Packaging Innovations & Empack 2022, the annual event driving innovation and investment in the UK packaging sector, will be postponed from its current February 2022 dates to new dates of 25 & 26 May 2022.

The decision to postpone the event has been made in consultation with the event’s many partners, exhibitors and the community as a whole. It is a result of the impact of the recent and rapid spread of the Omicron variant of coronavirus, which has led to new recommendations relating to home working and significant new travel restrictions for overseas participants in the event. This combination of circumstances makes it impossible to plan for a successful event in February.

With its new dates in May, the 2022 edition of Packaging Innovations & Empack will continue to be the essential event giving a vision of the future and driving investment and innovation decisions across the whole packaging journey.

Packaging Innovations will connect packaging technologists, designers and buyers with more than 200 of the market’s leading suppliers of primary and secondary packaging materials and related technologies. Empack will bring together directors at packing and filling operations with more than 40 of the market’s key technology suppliers. Three conference stages will bring the latest thinking on the key issues in packaging development and processing; while a host of features and networking initiatives will ensure visitors find the partners and products that will define their next projects.

Easyfairs says it is confident that moving the dates of Packaging Innovations & Empack 2022 to May is the best way to ensure a successful event that will continue to connect and inspire the whole packaging community that it serves. The event will be held at the same venue as originally planned, in Hall 1 at the NEC in Birmingham.

Renan Joel, divisional director for Easyfairs’ packaging events in the UK and France, comments: “It is our mission to run fantastic events that connect the packaging community, drive innovation and business and give a truly inspiring vision of the future.

“We want to ensure that the next edition of Packaging Innovations & Empack at the NEC does this and moving the event to May will give the whole community the best chance of having the event it deserves.

“I would like to thank all the stakeholders in our event – exhibitors, associations, media and visitors – for their support for the change in dates. We can’t wait to bring them all together in May and help them drive their innovations for the year to come.”

Due to growing concern over the new Omicron variant, Dairy-Tech 2022 has been postponed to 7 April 2022.

Due to be held next month (2 February), show organisers The Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers (RABDF) made the difficult decision to push back the date to April following the hike in cases over the Christmas period.

RABDF managing director Matt Knight said: “Upholding the health and safety of visitors, members, exhibitors, speakers and our staff is paramount. However, due to the unprecedented number of cases of Coronavirus over the last few weeks, we feel the best and most responsible option is to postpone the event until later in the year when cases historically have dropped.

“By April, the hope is more people will have received their booster jab and levels of coronavirus will be lower.

“The event on 7 April will also be before silaging starts, making it more accessible for farmers attending.”

Dairy-Tech is one of the biggest dairy shows to date, with more than 80 new product launches and almost 300 exhibitors.

Usual favourites are featured, including the Dairy Hub, offering guidance and insight on key industry issues and the Innovation Hub, where new products, ideas, technology and concepts will be discussed. Hoof trimming demonstrations will also feature at the event.

The Ice Cream & Artisan Food Show will be held from 8-10 February 2022 at the Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate (UK). In addition to everything that the makers and sellers of ice cream need to run their businesses, the Show will also include exhibitors selling coffee and other beverages, cakes, confectionery and savoury snacks.

The Ice Cream & Artisan Food Show is organised by the Ice Cream Alliance (ICA), the trade body for the ice cream sector. “The last live Show in 2020 was the first to be extended to include other products sold by parlours, mobilers, cafes and others,” commented ICA CEO Zelica Carr. “That was in response to a survey of our members that revealed the other products they wanted to see at the Show – 69% sell coffee, 63% tea and other hot drinks, 61% sell cakes, 61% confectionary and 41% savoury snacks.”

In common with other hospitality businesses, the ice cream sector has had a tough time during the pandemic. But it has bounced back in 2021 with the support of the ICA’s Great British Ice Cream Staycation campaign and record numbers holidaying in this country.

“The 2022 Show will be bigger and better than ever,” added Zelica. “It will provide a launch pad for the further growth of our sector. And where better to meet than in the fabulous town of Harrogate with its wonderful hotels, bars restaurants and beautiful surrounding countryside. I look forward to seeing you all there.”

The Mayor of Harrogate, councillor Trevor Chapman, was also keen to welcome back the Show: “I am delighted that the Ice Cream Alliance are once again returning to Harrogate for their exhibition in February 2022. We recognise the importance of the show which attracts companies and visitors from across the world and I would like to wish the company every success at the Harrogate Yorkshire Event Centre.”

Heather Parry, managing director of the Yorkshire Event Centre added: “We are very excited to welcome The Ice Cream & Artisan Food Show back home to the Yorkshire Event Centre. It is great to be hosting events again, doing what we do best, presenting large scale events like this which are so important for the industry and the economy. This is a very special and delicious event and is great for the YEC, for Harrogate and for Yorkshire.”

To exhibit at next year’s Ice Cream and Artisan Foods Show telephone 01332 203333 or email zelica@ice-cream.org. To register to attend the Show go to www.ice-cream.org

For years, World Dairy Expo has been the place to introduce new ideas and innovations to the global dairy industry. The World Dairy Expo Tech Spotlight takes this tradition to the next level by creating a platform, both virtually and in Madison, for dairy technology start-ups to formally present their ideas to dairy producers around the globe.

The 2021 World Dairy Expo Tech Spotlight will be hosted virtually on 16 September at 13:00 (CST) with free event registration available now at: www.wdetechspotlight.comThis online component will be followed by an in-person event during World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin on 28 September at 10:30 (CST).

Hosted by AgriTech Capital with support from World Dairy Expo, the Spotlight brings together elite dairy tech start-ups and gives them the opportunity to meet with top dairy farmers, virtually or physically.

“All the start-ups selected propose solutions that solve a critical problem for dairy producers and as a result help them maximize efficiencies and increase profitability. This is an extraordinary opportunity for them to show their products in action,”shares Aidan Connolly, AgriTech Capital president.

Both the virtual and in-person components of the World Dairy Expo Tech Spotlight will be divided into two parts, a showcase of the innovations followed by a panel discussion with industry experts including: Marcia Endres, PhD, professor and director of Graduate Studies, Animal Science, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities; Trevor DeVries, PhD, professor and Canada Research chair, Animal Biosciences, University of Guelph; and Jeffrey Bewley, PhD, Analytics and Innovation scientist, Holstein Association, USA.

Each featured start-up has digitally based technology for the dairy industry such as robots, cameras, or sensors and addresses a specific need identified by producers like feed bunk management, cow behaviour monitoring, cow health, milk quality, manure treatment or labor efficiencies. Amongst the companies participating in this year’s edition are Advanced Animal Diagnostics, Cainthus, HerdDogg, Labby, Livestock Water Recycling, Milc group, PharmRobotics, Piper Systems and SmaXtec.

“These technologies, and those found in the Trade Show at World Dairy Expo, can help dairy producers in many aspects on the farm,” says Scott Bentley, World Dairy Expo general manager. “Expo is pleased to have a part in offering the WDE Tech Spotlight both virtually and in-person at WDE 2021 in Madison, Wisconsin this fall.”

Serving as the meeting place of the global dairy industry, World Dairy Expo brings together the latest in dairy innovation and the best cattle in North America. Crowds of 60,000 people, from nearly 100 countries, will return to Madison, Wisconsin for the 54th event, from 28 September – 2 October 2021, when the world’s largest dairy-focused trade show, dairy and forage seminars, a world-class dairy cattle show and more will be on display.

This year’s edition of the International Dairy Cooperatives Forum will be held from 8-9 September in Białystok, Poland.

The place of the prestigious Conference of representatives of the dairy industry will be the north-eastern part of Poland, known as the centre of the Polish dairy industry. The unique climate of the region and the possibility of communing with nature are a perfect place to host talks about dairy production, say the organisers.

The International Dairy Cooperatives Forum is the largest event in Central and Eastern Europe, which is an opportunity to take the future of the milk industry into our own hands, and more precisely into the hands of those who are the core of the sector – producers, processors and cooperatives.

Paolo De Castro, member of the European Parliament, comments that “The Forum is one of the most important events for the dairy sector globally.”

The organisers have invited many experts from all over the world to the 18th edition of the Conference. The Forum will host representatives of institutions such as: the European Commission, the European Dairy Association (EDA), the European Dairy Products Trade Association Eucolait, the European organisation of agricultural trade unions and cooperative organisations COPA-COGECA and TEAM EUROPE.

As part of presentations, discussion panels and behind-the-scenes talks, experts will discuss issues related to the dairy industry that arouse great emotions. Forum participants will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the subject, including the Green Deal, the new Common Agricultural Policy and the European “Farm to Fork” strategy.

“We will talk primarily about the future of the dairy sector in the context of important documents such as CAP, European Green Deal Strategy, which are discussed today not only in Europe, but the whole world,” said Agnieszka Maliszewska, organiser of the Forum.

In addition, visitors will learn how the image of the post-Covid world of the dairy industry in other countries is being shaped. Different perspectives are the possibility of comparing methods and their proper implementation.

During two days of the Forum, participants will create a platform for the exchange of opinions, knowledge and experiences, which may be the beginning of a new business relationship or the strengthening of the already existing one.

The PPMA (Processing and Packaging Machinery Association) has confirmed that its flagship PPMA Show will go ahead at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, UK on 28-30 September 2021.

Confirmation of this year’s eagerly awaited processing, packaging, machine vision and robotics event in Birmingham will come as welcome news to show-goers and industry influencers alike within the UK manufacturing sector.

Speaking after the decision to stage PPMA Show 2021, Richard Little, show director for the PPMA Group of Associations, said: “There were a lot of things to take into consideration when deciding to run this year’s event; not least of all the safety and well-being of all concerned.

“Based on the advice we’ve received, the likely scenario is that all UK adults will have had or be eligible to receive their second Covid-19 vaccination in September 2021. Therefore, restrictions that would materially impact our Show running will have been lifted.

“We also had to gauge the appetite of exhibitors and prospective visitors to attend a live show, from which our surveys generated a very favourable response.

“The overwhelming consensus among those within the industry is that they want to see the return of live events; particularly in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical sectors. These sectors generate over half over visitors, many of whom have been working flat out to support the critical supply chain during the Coronavirus pandemic, and subsequently have a keen interest in the latest machinery and equipment.

“As an event organiser, we will now be working closely with the NEC to ensure that the necessary Covid-19 controls are in place, without compromising the overall event experience. This could mean some alternations to the omnidirectional floorplan and onsite catering provisions, but it will remain a large-scale exhibition,” added Little.

This year’s free-to-attend Show will house in-excess of over 350 exhibitors, comprising more than 1,700 brands, from the UK and parts of Europe.

Since the Show’s inception in 1988, it is now widely accepted as being the most important and influential industry event in the calendar for key decision-makers and purchasers from the FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) sector.

The registration portal for PPMA Show 2021 is now open for new registrants to apply for their complimentary visitor pass.

The Temperature Controlled Storage & Distribution (TCS&D) Exhibition, Conference and Awards will return to the East of England Arena in Peterborough from 7-8 September 2021.

Unlike some events, TCS&D 2021 will be keeping it small and safe for exhibitors and visitors. Despite the end of restricted attendance numbers for indoor events being scheduled for late June, TCS&D 2021 will still be capping visitor numbers at 1,000 in September.

The bi-annual TCS&D show will incorporate the ‘Cold Chain Hub’ conference – the programme for which is being devised by the Cold Chain Federation – making the event a fantastic opportunity to learn about the latest technologies and trends in the industry. “After a challenging 12 months for our sector and as we return to a more normal life,” explained Martyn Cogan, exhibition director, “we want TCS&D to deliver a host of tangible benefits to give our visitors a great couple of days. TCS&D will provide an unrivalled opportunity for anyone involved in the temperature controlled supply chain sector to learn and network.”

Although TCS&D (@TCSDShow) will take place after Covid-19 restrictions are scheduled to be lifted, the event will incorporate a number of measures to ensure a Covid-secure environment, including thermal camera checks on arrival, numerous sanitiser stations and wider aisles. “There is plenty of space to spread out at the East of England Arena,” said Martyn Cogan, “and we’ll also be locating more exhibits than ever in the new TCS&D Outdoor Marketplace.”

Ride & Drive returns

The Ride & Drive Experience track in the outside display area will make its return. “This proved hugely popular at the last exhibition,” commented Cogan, “as it gives visitors the best possible opportunity to experience vehicle handling and performance. We are anticipating a wide range of vehicles on display in the outdoor area, including more electric vehicles than ever before.”

Electric vehicle exclusive

The latest exhibitor to sign up to the show, NRG Fleet Services, will be exclusively showcasing the Electra 19t Refrigerated Electric Vehicle at TCS&D 2021. “This is a real coup for the show,” commented Martyn Cogan, “and is certain to attract a great deal of interest.”

The TCS&D show features products and services from right across the cold chain. Exhibitors already signed up for TCS&D 2021 include refrigerated vehicle suppliers Gray & Adams, MAR Cooling Solutions and ABC Trailers Solutions (available for all Schmitz Cargobull requirements); transport refrigeration manufacturers Carrier Transicold and Hubbard Products; cold chain electric vehicle supplier NRG Fleet Services; transport refrigeration service provider Longhurst Refrigeration; diesel-free transport cooling & energy manufacturer Hultsteins; rental & contract hire specialists Prohire and VMS Fleet Management; portable cold storage supplier Seven Refrigeration; supplier of new and used refrigerated vehiclesStockport Truck Centre; commercial vehicle repairers Yaxley Coachworks; protective clothing supplier Goldfreeze; insulated products supplier Polar Thermal Packaging; refrigeration and cooling specialist Star Refrigeration; cold store construction specialist ISD Solutions; automated racking solutions supplier SSI Schaefer; fire protection specialist Wagner Group; software provider Procuro Euro; and logistics recruitment agency Unity Resourcing Solutions.

Companies interested in exhibiting their solutions to a targeted audience of up to 1,000 visitors should contact Martyn Cogan on 07545 378793.

Dairy-Tech organiser, the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers (RABDF), says the event will return as normal for 2022, taking place at Stoneleigh Park on Wednesday 2 February. The Covid pandemic forced the 2021 event to take the form of a two week virtual programme – a concept that hundreds of farmers hailed ‘of great value’ to their business.

Managing director Matthew Knight explains that, whilst the feedback for the virtual event had been exceptional, the need for a return to its physical format was a necessity for the whole industry: “After 12 months of restricted contact the return of Dairy-Tech 2022 will allow farmers to get off farm and businesses to showcase their services and products to the industry again.

“We’re working hard on evolving event content and nurturing relationships with our exhibitors, sponsors and partners to deliver an informative and technical event for all dairy farmers.

“This will mean more new products, tangible concepts for implementing on your farm and speaker programmes to address the latest topics and issues affecting the sector.”

Dairy-Tech will be the go-to platform for new product launches and is set to house a record number after almost 18 months of no industry events. Visitor and exhibitor numbers are also on track to soar according to the RABDF and the event’s seminar programmes will continue to enhance knowledge and challenge ways of thinking.

Further visitor information, including new products and speaker hub programmes will be released in the coming months. 2020 exhibitors and companies who had booked for 2021 but not carried their booking over are able to take advantage of the loyalty rate until 16 May before the early bird rate begins.

For further information on the event, contact: office@rabdf.co.uk or call 02476 639317. To enquire about stand space, email charlesneale@rabdf.co.uk.

Unfortunately due to the current restrictions and government advice, the UK’s Society of Dairy Technology’s Spring Conference in Northern Ireland will be postponed yet again to April 2022. If you have already booked to attend the conference your booking will be automatically transferred, unless otherwise requested.

The SDT is waiting to hear whether the International Cheese & Dairy Awards at Bingley Hall will go ahead as planned in the summer (1-3 July) or moved to the contingency dates during the autumn (21-23 October) before it organises some alternative events this year.

Another conference that has had to reschedule is the Nordic Dairy Congress in Malmo, Sweden. This was supposed to take place in June this year but has now been postponed to 19-20 May 2022 with a Tetra Pak (Lund) visit the day before.

The International Cheese & Dairy Awards 2021 is nearly at trade space capacity for its 1-3 July event. However, it is also planning to move the international cheese and dairy exhibition to a later date in October, should Covid-19 restrictions cause issues with having it in July. This latter annoucement will be made in early March.

As for the trade space, “This is a great position, but we don’t want to let down any past exhibitors or companies who would like to be involved with the event. We have a series of options available including space only, shell scheme, market stall or bespoke stand. We also now have stand design and build in-house and this is proving cost-effective for space only exhibitors,” says Debbie Stewart of the ICDA.

The new October dates for ICDA are 21-23 October at the same site, but “the team are working hard at the moment and still intend to put on the event in July 2021,” notes Ian Luxton, chairman of the ICDA.

If stand space is booked and restrictions mean the awards are unable to have an event in 2021, exhibitors will have the option of a full refund or to carry the cost over to 2022 and the 2021 prices will be held, the organisers say. For further information, download the trade form from the website or contact debbie@icda-awards.com or adrian@icda-awards.com who will be able to help.

The pandemic and associated travel and event restrictions have had an impact on Anuga FoodTec, which was originally scheduled for March 2021. After extensive discussions with industry participants and the German Agricultural Society (DLG), the professional and conceptual sponsor of the trade fair, Koelnmesse, has declared it sees no alternative but to postpone Anuga FoodTec. The next Anuga FoodTec will take place from 26 – 29 April 2022.

“We sincerely regret that we have to postpone Anuga FoodTec until 2022 despite good preparation and encouragement from the industry. In the past few weeks, however, it has become apparent that there is growing skepticism and concern among all involved. As a result, many companies have pulled out in view of the infection situation and current uncertainty. However, Anuga FoodTec cannot take place without the important key factors of internationality and cross-industry participation. With this in mind, we have responded to the industry’s wish to postpone the trade fair with the new date,” says Oliver Frese, chief operating officer of Koelnmesse.

“The new event date is the best possible solution, taking into consideration the international trade fair calendar, and the available time and space capacities. This allows us to provide the industry with a vision and planning security”.

In 2022, the trade fair will take place as a hybrid event, combining both an in-person and digital platform. The addition of a digital platform to the physical component creates the foundation for as many people as possible from Germany and abroad to have access to the latest technologies and processes in the food and beverage industry and for promoting sustainable networking within the industry.

“Like the companies, we will use the time to fully prepare ourselves for the upcoming trade fair and boost the industry’s restart further with digital tools and additional reach. Koelnmesse will of course continue to count on the presence of international exhibitors and visitors in April 2022,” continued Frese. “Trade fairs offer the opportunity for products and the people behind them to be experienced through personal interaction and exchange. This is the ideal basis for successful business.”

“As the professional and conceptual sponsor of Anuga FoodTec, we very much regret that the leading international supplier fair for the food and beverage industry will not be able to take place in March 2021 as planned. As a platform for professional exchange across industry boundaries, Anuga FoodTec is a central partner for the entire food sector, focusing on current topics and providing important impetus with the presentation of forward-looking technologies and innovations. We are therefore even more pleased that in spring 2022  Anuga FoodTec will once again be the meeting place for the international food technology and supplier industry under the guiding theme ‘Smart Solutions – Higher Flexibility'”, says Simone Schiller, managing director of the DLG Food Technology Center.

Informa Markets has announced new dates – and a new hybrid format – for Vitafoods Europe 2021. An in-person event will be hosted at the Palexpo, Geneva, 5-7 October 2021, with an accompanying virtual event running in parallel from 4-8 October 2021.

Chris Lee, managing director, Health and Nutrition Network at Informa Markets comments: “We had a fantastic response to our first Vitafoods Virtual Expo and Summit in September. The interactive virtual event opened up our brands to a wider global audience than ever before, highlighting the power of technology to bring our industry together and drive it forward.

“The disruption of recent months accelerated our strategy to take our core physical event offering to the next level by integrating virtual elements, in order to bring an innovative and convenient format for exhibitors and visitors alike to share ideas and make global connections. Face-to-face events bring so much value to our industry, but we also recognise that individuals have different preferences and travel can pose challenges, especially in the current climate.

“This is exactly why we’re delighted to announce our new hybrid format for Vitafoods Europe 2021. Over a week in October next year, we’ll be hosting forums, webinars, roundtables and much more across our innovative cross-functional platform and in-person event, providing the industry with access to even more exclusive experiences, knowledge and networking opportunities. Watch this space!”

The Ice Cream Alliance (ICA) has announced that the next Ice Cream and Artisan Food Show is confirmed for 8-10 February 2022, at the Yorkshire Event Centre (YEC).

The Government has prevented any Exhibitions from taking place until April 2021, which meant that the ICA could not have its planned Expo in February 2021.

The ICA said it was offered alternatives by the YEC in Harrogate however, in discussion with exhibitors and members, May was considered to be too far into the season and November too early for the 2022 season.

The ICA says it wishes to build upon the success of the 2020 Ice Cream and Artisan Food Show and ensure that the next Expo will be well attended for exhibitors and visitors.

The organisers are planning for the 2022 Expo to be the biggest and best Expo for many years. The majority of exhibitors who were booked for 2021 have reportedly committed to promoting their businesses at the 2022 expo. The ICA says it will be providing more information about 2022 exhibitors within its e-newsletters throughout 2021.

Anyone who has already registered for the 2021 Expo will be automatically registered for the 2022 Expo – if you do not wish to attend in 2022, contact the ICA; if you would like to register, click here.

Entries have now closed for the ICA’s Mobiler of the Year and the National Ice Cream Competition 2021, sponsored by AHT, ETi Ltd and Parkers Packaging. The winner of Mobile of the Year and the winners of the National Ice Cream Competition 2021 will be announced at a virtual award ceremony sponsored by Machinery World in Spring 2021.

Parlour of the Year, sponsored by Antonelli, will be launched in 2021 with the winner announced in 2022.

Messe Frankfurt Inc (MFI) and the Food Processing Suppliers Association (FPSA) have announced that they have entered into a joint venture to align their resources in order to create and to co- produce Process Expo, the nation’s largest horizontal trade show for the food and beverage processing and packaging industry. With FPSA’s strong industry relationships and MFI’s international reputation as a leading event producer servicing the food technology and processing markets, Process Expo will benefit from an expanded global reach and a tailored experience for visitors and exhibitors alike.

Earlier this year, MFI began managing the next edition of Process Expo. Now, as part of a joint venture, FPSA’s longevity within the industry will be supplemented by the expertise of event management, marketing and sales provided by MFI.

“FPSA began our tradeshow journey more than ten years ago with the primary goal being to host the largest and most valued food processing trade show in the Americas. We are extremely excited to strengthen our current relationship with Messe Frankfurt,” said Matt Malott, chairman of FPSA and president and CEO of Multivac Inc. “As a leader on a global scale, Messe Frankfurt’s far-reaching influence provides Process Expo with a heighten visibility and solidifies its importance in the marketplace.”

Messe Frankfurt currently organises a food processing and technology portfolio comprised of five international trade shows in Argentina, Russia, Thailand and Germany. Promoting innovative and practical solutions for a growing global population, these top international shows attract some 1,400 exhibitors and over 93,000 visitors from around the world.

“We are excited to co-produce Process Expo alongside FPSA in the future, as our competencies complement each other perfectly. Our aim is to create a platform that is the first choice for business encounters within the food and beverage processing and packaging industry”, commented Constantin von Vieregge, president and CEO, Messe Frankfurt Inc.

Focusing on elevating the event and reconnecting domestic and international companies with their target audiences, Process Expo is set to be the first major event for the food and beverage processing and packaging industry in 2021. The next edition will take place from 12-15 October 2021 at McCormick Place, Lakeside Center in Chicago, Illinois.

“With many shows being postponed and/or cancelled over the past few months due to Covid-19, companies have recognised once more the importance of face-to-face encounters and the ability to showcase equipment functionality directly to customers”, stated von Vieregge.

Within the new partnership, FPSA and MFI will maintain the show’s longtime commitment to growing businesses within the food and beverage processing and packaging industry and to showcasing the latest in machinery, products, technology and services the industry has to offer. The event will continue to serve as a global business platform for engineers, scientists, R&D, sales and marketing professionals, and others from small to large processing and packaging companies as well as contract manufacturers and suppliers.

The Royal Bath & West Society has announced the cancellation of this year’s Dairy Show due to the ongoing global pandemic.

The Society has admitted it was an extremely difficult decision to make, though in light of the recent rise in confirmed cases of coronavirus (Covid-19), it feels this is the responsible thing to do. The Society says it has become clear that the impact of these challenging times on gatherings will not have abated sufficiently to allow the Dairy Show to go ahead in the way the organisers would want.

The next Dairy Show will be held on 6 October 2021.

Alan Lyons, the head of Shows at the Royal Bath & West Society said: “Obviously we are hugely disappointed to be taking this decision today, and to have to cancel one of the key industry events in the UK is a great shame, especially when so many others have fallen by the wayside this year. We hope that our visitors, traders and exhibitors will understand that we have a civic responsibility to act sensibly and we felt that with the reduction in numbers of people allowed to meet, cancellation now is the right thing to do.

“This was due to be our 40th anniversary and we had already made some adjustments to the Dairy Show so we will now look forward to welcoming the dairy industry back to next year’s Dairy Show on 6th October 2021.”

The Society says it will be in touch with exhibitors, sponsors and competition entrants for the Show with details of what to do next, and will also contact all ticketholders.

The Board of Trustees and all staff at the Royal Bath & West Society say they would like to thank the public, trade stand exhibitors, British Cheese Awards exhibitors, and all sponsors for their understanding and patience during this period of uncertainty and what is an unprecedented situation.
