Long weekends and cheese rolling
In a lot of countries, there was a day off on Monday – there was also the annual cheese rolling event down Cooper’s Hill in Gloucestershire here in the UK.
Dairy developments all over the world
Among the interesting international news at the moment is that the EU has adopted a policy on not leaving dairy out of the school scheme, but instead has resolved to ensure that adequate fruit and vegetables, along with dairy products, are available to school children in its legislation.
The heart of dairy
It is key that farmers are happy in their work, and that processors help them with all their needs, from meeting sustainability goals to mental health.
The issue of succession
Over the past weekend, King Charles III was coronated. Farming and royalty both seem to be industries where it’s about family and succession, in a way that other professions are not.
Treating all members of the family
Last week, I spent some time up in Birmingham exploring the UK Food & Drink Shows, which consist of Foodex Manufacturing Solutions, the Farm Shop & Deli Show, the National Convenience Show to the Food & Drink Expo.
Nothing like a coronation
Great Britain is getting a new king and queen next month, and the cheese makers of the UK have taken notice, providing new coronation-themed offerings.
Cheese and judging
I am looking forward to being a judge at the International Cheese and Dairy Awards from 28-30 June.
Wellness trends
The wellness industry seems to be ever-increasing in size and reach, but can these ‘trends’ be misinformative or potentially dangerous?
Another type of CAP
Another CAP has joined the acronym pile, and it’s the Retailer Net Zero Collaboration Action Programme (CAP).
Where the dairy will come from
With an expected increase in dairy consumption on the cards, I explore the question of where the extra dairy will be produced.
The importance of education
One of the issues with education is that often, one doesn’t see the results for years, it’s no different from the dairy industry.
Women’s health and women’s day
The upcoming International Women’s Day is on 8 March this year. It’s a good time to look at women’s health and what can be done to improve outcomes.
Looking north and west for exports
Northern Ireland has been in the news this week, due to the “Windsor Framework” agreement between the UK and the EU. I also got the chance to enjoy some Northern Irish cheeses at an event.
Going live
This week, our registration platform for the Dairy Industries Expo will be going live. We are very much looking forward to the Expo in October, and have been delighted by the interest shown by the industry for this event.
