Exhibitors and excitement

Now that the stands are filling up and the calendar has clicked into March, I am beginning to get quite excited about the prospect of the International Cheese and Dairy Expo occurring for the second time on 27 June. Well, the first time in this permutation, but what a great partner, the ICDA. The awards, the cheeses, the general good cheer and people coming together to discuss all things dairy. Also, an opportunity to see the Society of Dairy Technology with its dinner and summer symposium on 26 June.

At our Expo, Fristam Pumps is set to join us at the show for the first time, with its selection of hygienic pumps and powder mixers. The company has been manufacturing equipment for the dairy industry for over 100 years, with Fristam’s first hygienic pumps created for evaporators.

Fast forward to today and Fristam has grown its range of pumps to cater for every conceivable hygienic application the dairy industry has. High quality, robust centrifugal pumps are a favourite for low viscosity applications such as milk. Thicker applications such as cream and yogurt are transferred using a rotary lobe pump, the perfect choice for when low pulsation and gentle handling is a must. Curds and whey for cheese production can be pumped with either a positive displacement pump or a double screw pump, with no difference to the particle size of the curds being apparent after pumping when compared to the curds scooped up by hand.

Fristam double screw pumps are ideal for dairies looking to transfer a range of very different mediums on a line, all with just one pump. For example, different ingredients for ice cream production which may be as thin as lemon flavouring and as thick as the base ice cream mix. The Fristam powder mixer is an inline design which inducts powders into liquids at rapid speeds. Even a small mixing unit an induct 25kg of non-fat dry milk in just nine seconds. The inline Fristam design is a popular alternative to tank mixers as liquids often do not need to be heated to help blend the powder into liquid and unlike tank mixers there are no agglomerates left behind. Its waist height, mobile design is also great for health and safety – as there’s no climbing ladders with heavy powder bags.

There will be so much to see, it will be a busy day full of seminars, exhibitors, cheeses and other dairy products. Get your place booked and don’t miss it. Contact Samantha Bull for more information, [email protected], or myself at [email protected].
